Erin Hocking Ayers, O.D. is a dedicated optometrist with over 13 years of experience providing compassionate, patient-centered care. After earning her undergraduate degree in biology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, she completed her doctorate of optometry at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2011.

Dr. Hocking is committed to building lasting relationships with patients, listening and empowering them to make informed decisions about their eye health. Dr. Hocking sees patients for glasses and contact lenses and also manages ocular diseases including, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. She is accepting new patients of all ages in the Mount Vernon, IL office.

Dr. Hocking is passionate about shaping the future of optometry. She serves as an adjunct faculty member at Southern College of Optometry, where she is a preceptor for their extern program. Through mentoring students, Dr. Hocking helps cultivate the next generation of optometrists with a focus on patient-centered care.

In addition to clinical work, Dr. Hocking is a member of the American Optometric Association. She and her family are active members of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church in Mount Vernon. She enjoys reading, traveling, and staying active with her family.
