Dr. Amy Ritzheimer earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University in 2009. She graduated from The University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry in 2013. She has a passion for examining and treating patients of all ages, from infants to the geriatric population. Dr. Ritzheimer takes her time to understand each patient’s visual needs, including those needed for work, education, and hobbies, so that she can prescribe glasses and/or contact lenses to best fit each person. In addition to meeting patients’ visual needs, Dr. Ritzheimer ensures she is also meeting patients’ ocular health needs. She diagnoses, manages, and treats a wide variety of ocular diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye. Aside from these chronic conditions, Dr. Ritzheimer also treats acute ocular issues, such as eye infections and minor ocular injuries. She believes in educating patients on their ocular health, listening to their concerns, and answering questions so that patients can fully understand how and why she is managing and/or treating each ocular condition.

Dr. Ritzheimer is a lifelong resident of Clinton County, IL and is currently seeing patients, established and new, at the Marion Eye Center offices in Centralia and Carlyle.

With her husband and three sons, Dr. Ritzheimer resides in Germantown, IL. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially watching her boys participate in various sports and activities. She also likes to read, travel, spend time with friends, and volunteer in her community.
